NOTE: We are not advocating mass travel during this time, but we do want to continue to support the incredible businesses and destinations that make this world so amazing. However, we do encourage you to virtually travel through our articles and plan your visits for when it is safe to do get out there.

When thinking of all travel destinations and places to visit in North Carolina (and the USA), the first thing that comes to many people’s minds is an Outer Banks vacation, at least for a weekend. Please don’t tell our friends elsewhere on the coast, okay? We love the Outer Banks and are happy to share guides on things to do there, restaurants, and more.

OBX Fun Facts

The Outer Banks is an area full of interesting geographical features and history. The number of islands and inlets here always changes, due to severe storms opening some up and closing others. If you ever look at a map of all the shipwrecks that surround The Outer Banks, you’ll know exactly why it’s known as “the Graveyard of the Atlantic.” There’s even a museum named that in Hatteras. The Lost Colony of Roanoke also started out in nearby Manteo and Dare County is named after Virginia Dare, the first English person born in America.
