Great American Travel Destinations from Florida to Oklahoma!

If you’re looking for a true taste of the American south and Midwest, then you’re in for a real treat here my friends. We’re going to start on the Gulf of Mexico and move north through the Mississippi Delta and top things off at the foothills of the Ozarks. With a hint of history and food, here are some truly great American travel destinations from Florida to Oklahoma with much more between them.

Fort Myers Beach, Florida

Not too far from Cape Coral, Fort Myers Beach is a perfect way for visitors to get started but there are many more options nearby. It’s also home to Lovers Key State Park, Bowditch Point Park and so many other natural options to enjoy in the area. Times Square is a great option for shoppers and foodies with a variety of restaurants and places to pick up a souvenir or more. The folks at Trico Shrimp Co. will show you some of the world’s freshest seafood.

Huntsville, Alabama

Families and cosmos lovers will really enjoy the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville. Enjoy some Mississippi catch and walk it off at the Huntsville Botanical Garden is quite popular on many travelers’ lists. Visitors can get even farther off the path with a trip to Monte Sano State Park that promises a lot of trails and nature to enjoy. The Von Braun Center offers guests some indoor entertainment with musicals and shows continuing to come through the area.

Memphis, Tennessee

Stop in Memphis and get some mandatory barbecue at least once a day while visiting. In between meals, you have plenty of choices with walks through Sun Studio or Graceland starting things off for most people. Before heading to Beale Street at night, spend some time at the Civil Rights Museum and learn about Memphis’s place in the crucial battles that were fought by some of the most prominent leaders in American history.

Little Rock, Arkansas

The historic Little Rock Central High School is a great way to start your adventure through Arkansas’s capital city. Outdoor travelers and photographers will love Big Dam Bridge’s walking and biking paths and the scenes around them. The Arkansas State Capitol is a great chance for kids and everyone to walk around after a nice meal of ribs and greens. You can also learn about the buildings beautiful architecture and the site of the original Louisiana Purchase Documents’s signing.

Tulsa, Oklahoma

Stop in Tulsa and start with the Philbrook Museum of Art’s rotating exhibits, films and much more. If you’re looking for a game when the weather is nice, head to ONEOK Field to and watch the Tulsa Drillers battle the Texas League’s toughest opposition.  After gorging yourself on Tulsa’s barbecue and soul food, check out the Woody Guthrie Center that appeals to music and history lovers.
