No trip to Australia is complete without visiting Sydney. No matter what kinds of things you like to do, you will find activities and attractions that will keep you dreaming of Australia for years to come.

Enjoyable Sydney Attractions

Sydney Harbor

The Sydney Opera House is an iconic building that anyone even remotely familiar with Sydney will recognize. You can take a tour of this multi-venue performance space to get a look at the interior and learn about its history. Of course, you can also get tickets to a performance taking place while you’re in town.

This isn’t the only place worth visiting in Sydney Harbor. The area along the waterfront has several attractions, such as:

  • The Royal Botanic Gardens, which has free admission
  • BridgeClimb, which lets you scale the southern half of Sydney Harbor Bridge
  • The Museum of Sydney, where you will find archeological exhibits from Australia’s history

All of these sites are within walking distance of the Circular Quay, so it’s easy to spend a day exploring the area without wearing your feet out.

Taronga Zoo

Taronga Zoo is located in Mosman, a suburb that’s about five miles from downtown Sydney. If you are staying at a hotel in downtown Sydney, you can take a ferry that crosses the harbor. Getting out on the water is one of the most enjoyable ways to start your day.

Once you arrive at Taronga Zoo, you can see over 350 species of animals spread out over eight areas. Each area focuses on a general type of animal. Some of the most popular exhibits include:

  • Giraffes
  • Western lowland gorillas
  • Goodfellow’s tree kangaroos
  • Sumatran Tigers

The zoo is open every day of the year, so you can see the animals no matter when you visit.

Manly Beach

Sydney has several popular beaches where you can spend the day lounging in the sun, swimming in the water, or playing a variety of games. Manly Beach is one of the most popular options, especially for tourists who want to take advantage of the area’s restaurants, bars, rugby competition, and nightclubs.

Manly Beach is noted as one of Sydney’s best beaches for surfing.

Other activities you may enjoy include:

  • Scuba diving
  • Snorkeling
  • Riding paddle boards
  • Kayaking
  • Taking a bike tour

If you are staying in downtown Sydney, you can take a ferry to reach Manly Beach. Again, this is an opportunity that you shouldn’t miss since the ride is usually relaxing and beautiful.

Blue Mountains National Park

For a different kind of adventure, you can head about 40 miles inland to experience Blue Mountains National Park. The national park is a registered UNESCO World Heritage site that offers a diverse range of walking trails, camping, and canoeing.

One of the park’s most popular attractions is the Three Sisters, a sandstone formation shaped like three pillars situated on a line. Viewing the Three Sisters with the Sydney Basin in the background is one of the most mesmerizing things that you can see near Sydney.

Book a hotel in Sydney today, so you can enjoy all of the wonderful attractions Australia’s largest city has to offer.
