Anaheim Beyond Disney
You might think that a trip to Anaheim is impossible without a visit to Disneyland, but there’s so much more to see aside from Mickey, Minnie, and friends. Anaheim has tons of entertaining activities to fill your itinerary, and this guide will give you just that. Here’s your guide to Anaheim beyond Disney.
There Are Other Parks
It’s hard to believe that similar, if not better, attractions lie close to Disneyland, but after stopping by Buena Park, you might be convinced to camp out here for the rest of your stay. Home to so many wonderful parks including the famed Knott’s Berry Farm and Soak City U.S.A., families can enjoy a California theme park without the crowds that come with Disney.
Tons more rides await at Adventure City, and there’s even a puppet show that’ll have you laughing all the way back to your car. Gamers and Top Gun wannabes will love the Flightdeck Flight Simulation Center that allows you to test your mettle as a fighter pilot.
Museums for All Ages
Get away from the parks and spend some time culturing yourself through Anaheim’s wide array of museums. There’s something for everyone, but Muzeo especially stands out. It’s an interesting museum because there’s always something new, thanks to rotating exhibits running the show. Discovery Cube Orange County is a great option for kids, but adults will clamor for all the interactive information on hand as well.
If you like hands on experiments and scientific wonders, you will just love this place. Speaking of a learning experience, head to the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum and go beyond Watergate. Here you can find out about the 37th president’s illustrious life before, during, and after his time as the Commander-in-Chief.
Spend a Day Outdoors
Take a day and spend some time outdoors, as there’s so much to see and do throughout Orange County and its surroundings. Visit nearby Yorba Regional Park and take your pick from the many fun-filled activities that include cycling and kayak rentals. Hikers will scramble for time to enjoy all the trails available around Anaheim, with Saddleback and Ronald W. Caspers Regional Park ranked above the rest.
Anaheim is also close to the scenic Pacific Coast everyone fantasizes about, along with the many Orange County beaches that dominate the coastline. After a nice long day on the sand, be sure to catch the sunset at Newport Pier and prepare for an amazing scene. The Newport Beach area is also special because you can see whales migrating from north to south throughout the year. Book a tour through a variety of companies and see the world’s largest mammals up close.
Disneyland is certainly a big part of Anaheim, but as you can see, it’s not everything. Enjoy Orange County’s parks, museums, outdoors, and even Anaheim hotels without even running into one of your favorite cartoon characters. This guide will get you around Disney while staying in Anaheim.
